This digital mural design, GLENDALE: A City in Full View, celebrates iconic elements that make Glendale unique. Each LETTER features hand-drawn, vector-based artwork created using the pen tool over original photos. The Alex Theatre stands front and center in a dramatic view, framed by palms. Deukmejian Park is composed from three images: its mountainous backdrop, the mosaic entrance detail of a deer, and a trail sign. A Jacaranda tree—painted in watercolor then redrawn digitally, pays tribute to Glendale’s purple-lined streets. Lastly, K9 officers Cooper and Brisket stand proud before a cityscape and U.S. flag. Rather than using plain visuals, I transformed the box into a city name mural—GLENDALE—placing two bold letters on each side, enhanced by vivid 3D-style shadows to tie it all together. This artwork honors Glendale’s beauty, spirit, and landmarks through a contemporary public art lens.

ALEX THEATER
The Alex Theatre illustration was digitally hand-drawn over an original photo I captured from a frontal view. I used the pen tool to create sharp, clean vector lines that can scale up without losing quality. The symmetrical composition gives a dramatic perspective from both sides, and the iconic Art Deco tower is framed by tall palm trees to emphasize Glendale’s unique character.
DEUKMEJIAN PARK
This visual was built from three separate photographs: a mountain-and-greenery background, the newly installed mosaic featuring a deer at the park’s entrance, and a close-up of the wooden hiking trail sign. I combined and digitally illustrated these elements to highlight the park’s natural beauty and its inviting community features, creating a layered yet cohesive tribute.
JACARANDA TREE
The jacaranda tree, a symbol of Glendale in full bloom, began as a watercolor painting I created by hand. I then redrew it digitally to ensure consistency with the rest of the visuals. This element adds a splash of vibrant purple and brings a softer, organic contrast to the structured urban visuals.
Using their official headshots as a base, I digitally illustrated Glendale’s beloved K9 officers, Brisket and Cooper. They are positioned proudly against an abstracted urban background and the American flag, symbolizing their dedication and connection to the community. Every detail was carefully drawn with the pen tool to preserve both personality and clarity.
